Here's a sample from The Persephone Papers:

from the poem "Decade":

As that old year died,
I dreamed of oil burning up Baghdad
then consuming the entire planet.

I saw a mountain cave north of Peking,
a root cellar in Istanbul,
a hollow outside Whitehorse,
the ashen faces of the few
who outlive our fires.

I saw in a millennium or two
a dogsled make its way
to what was London, Ontario.

I saw a thaw, a farmer
drag a plough through a field
of what was once bone, skin, stone, and ashes,
rich earth fed with the spirits
of unknown ancestors.

In what was once called May
a shoot rises;
sweet leaves into the mouths
of a new race.

Here's a sample poem from A Day in Pieces:

Becoming Margaret Atwood

I read poetry to fill the time,
since my mind cannot grasp
more than elusive images
or incomplete thoughts.
These are universal truths
that a woman 28 years my senior
tattooed on paper 40 years ago.
And I understand
on a level deeper than words
my mother ever spoke.
I denied her existence
until forced to shred
the skin of verse
down to bone.
Now I can’t shake her.
What was once intangible
sits at my core:
an uncomfortable stone,
swallowed for safe keeping,
embedded in stomach lining.

from Regarding Oblivion

Venerable Maiden

venerable maiden,
how regally enduring;
is the reign nearing
a full century?
the monumental memories,
the multifarious creatures
that have flocked to you,
seeking shelter from
the elements.

your cordial limbs
outstretched, defying
gravity, denying
the length of your years.
a haven for hostas; an
umbrageous curtain for
columbines and tattooed
moss maps clinging to
your granitic hide.

i, a renascent lotus-
eater, pensively crouched
beneath crysolite green
sun shields, admiring
a curious charm of
goldfinches pecking
at your feet. a solitary
polyphemus moth flitting
in the early evening
June breeze, caressed
with the fragrance
of spreading Junipers.

New Website for Harmonia Press

My book imprint, Harmonia Press, will be using this URL as its website. In the future, hopefully, there will be some announcements regarding new and upcoming titles, by several authors, including myself but not limited to that. Harmonia Press actually began as a project to publish the poems of other writers, hence Afterthoughts, a poetry journal that ran from 1994 to 2000, was created.

The website is currently "under construction" for the next little while, until things are more definite.
